This article from from 1904 was printed in the Washington Times. It comes at the height of the Reed Smoot hearings where polygamy and the temple ceremony were center stage in the media for a time as the U.S. government was denying congressional seats to some Utah representatives on the grounds that the Mormon Church was breaking the laws of the land and that they were willing supporters of the Church.
Few times has the LDS temple ceremony been so frankly talked about complete with pictures in an established, popular newspaper or other media outlet. This article would not be published today.
